CROW AND COCKATOO SQUAWK OFF

WEEK 10/DAY 1 – GET FIT PLAN

Morning everyone. This morning I had a letter to post so went off in a direction I don’t normally go. Once I’d reached the mailbox I continued on to the walking track. There weren’t many others on the track today but a crow and two sulphur crested cockatoos had a pow-wow. I’m not sure if they were competing for the top of the same gum tree or just happily co-squawking. Each time the crow called to his fellow crows, the cockatoos made a series of screeches. The cockatoos ended up leaving. Who could blame them. Crows really don’t have the happiest of calls. When I got home I saw one of our cats in the yard. She went into her survival crouch. Once I took off my sunglasses and spoke to her, the tail went up and she strolled over.

I really think I’ve found my equilibrium which is 40 minutes walking. I know the book says I’m supposed to walk 50-60 minutes but they also said it is my exercise program. I think 40 is good enough. That’s what my legs keep telling me.

Have a good day.

WALKING CLEARS A HEADCOLD

WEEK 9/DAY 7 – GET FIT PLAN

Hi everyone. A hot steamy kind of day so it’s not the most pleasant for walking. My husband and I got out at around 4pm and had a brisk walk along the walking track then back along the river. We bought bread and milk on the way home. It took about 1 hr and helped my headcold clear a bit. So another successful day of the program done. And he kept up much better this time. Have a good evening.

I FEEL SAFER ON THE FLOOR DOING CRUNCHES

WEEK 9/DAY 6 – GET FIT PLAN

Morning everyone. This morning after breakfast I went into the exercise room and did my one hour session. My husband was on the treadmill at the same time and it made for a more enjoyable workout. Not that we chatted much but he had the television on and it was good to have his company as we both worked on getting fit. Our younger daughter came in and helped me with my crunches. I tried to get on the piece of equipment where you hook your legs around the end and lie back on a 45 degree angle. The crunches weren’t the problem it was getting on and off at that angle. I ended up rolling of the thing when I’d finished. I’ll stick to the floor next time. So another day off adding to my fitness. Enjoy your exercises and avoid the heat. Bye for now.

GET ON YOUR BIKE

WEEK 9/DAY 5 – GET FIT PLAN

Hi everyone. I got on my bike at 9am and went along the river and through a bit of bush on the cycling track. It really is a great workout and I think it’s harder than walking and gets the cardiovascular working more. Very enjoyable though.

When I got home I did 20 minutes weeding. It really is a good way to get overwhelming jobs done. A bit each day and by the end of one week, a lot has been done.

Some days I feel a bit stiff but not usually sore. I guess that means that the program has eased me into exercise without overdoing it.

It will be interesting when I next have my cholesterol checked, to see if my exercising has reduced the reading. We shall see.

Have a good day.

WALKING CAN DESTRESS AND CLEAR THE HEAD

Week 9/day 4 – GET FIT PLAN

It is the most beautiful autumn day. I began my walk straight after school drop-off but I was still a bit stressed because the kids seem incapable of getting ready for school on time. So after getting to school just in time for one daughter to catch a bus to swimming, I realised I hadn’t packed her thongs. Well there was no time to get them so I muttered all the way home about why they can’t get up on time, why they don’t hurry when I say we need to go and so on. So when I started walking I really enjoyed pounding out that stress and thinking up some strategies, which I have used before but will try again, as to how to get the kids to bed on time so they can get up on time and get to school on time. By the time I finished the walk I was much calmer and when I got home I did 20 minutes weeding. So have a good day and if you’re feeling stressed, go for a brisk walk.

DO EXERCISES AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

Week 9/day 3 – GET FIT PLAN

Morning everyone. Well I have to admit that I didn’t do my exercise yesterday. By this week, I should be walking 5 times per week and exercising the other 2. I have stuck to the program really well but my downfall is not doing the work as early as possible.

Yesterday I didn’t feel like doing exercise after school drop-off so told myself that I’d do it later in the day or even while one daughter was at after school jazz. Well, I filled in the day with too much and in the afternoon began making dinner along with cakes for school lunches which I hadn’t finished by school pick-up, then forgot that I had to go to the school that evening for an information session.

The moral is, as I have discovered before, do the exercise first! Which brings me to today. I got straight into the resistance exercises at 9.15am. 50 minutes later I’m finished. So I’m back on track.

Unfortunately, I have been watching the disastrous earthquake footage from Christchurch, NZ. I can’t believe how many disasters have happened since I began this program. Floods, cyclones, bushfires and now an earthquake. It is such a devastating situation. Let’s hope that they can rescue all those trapped people.

Time for a shower now and I can tick ‘exercise’ off my list for the day.

Have a good day.

WALKING FOR HEALTH

WEEK 9/DAY 1 – GET FIT PLAN

Oops! I didn’t do any exercise yesterday. I did some running though – yes, I ran out of time.

So here I am after being out for an hour this morning. I had a really good walk which I combined with popping into the bank and grabbing a coffee at Gloria Jeans, which was still warm enough when I got home.

It is so easy to put other things before exercise but I was determined to make it first on my list today.  And it sets me up for the day knowing that I’ve done my bit of fitness work.

Have a good day.
